This
was a challenge I set for myself. I had exactly one rayon fish sarong
(with fringe) and was determined to make the duster
from it. Of course, it was only enough for the front and back panels--everything
else had to be cut from other fabric. The black and white print fabrics
were from my stash and I used up just about every inch of the sarong,
including the fringe, which appears on the pockets and at the shoulders.
I added a size 8 irridescent bead to each piece of fringe for interesting
texture. This was really fun and the duster suits itself to creating
wonderful things with a "too small" piece of precious fabric. The sarong,
by the way was approx 54" x 72"--kinda like 2 yards of fabric. I modeled
it wearing yet another favorite black-and-white sarong which seems to
be just the thing to go with my new coat!
