Linda is tall so she first cut the vest longer. The fabric is cotton muslin dyed rust-orange, then created figures by Discharge Dyeing with Comet Liquid Gel. To tone it down, she then overdyed with a weak brown solution, and painted on the surface with a coppery brown.
She drew designs on the flannel inner layer and stitched with a heavy rayon thread in the bobbin, then quilted around the printed and discharged images with copper metallic thread.
The closure is made from two desert finds, a bleached bone that is wrapped with a cord from which dangles a small feather.
