Linda Teufel Dragon Jacket
Linda used the Kanji Coat pattern for this wonderfully pieced jacket.

Here are her comments:
Thought you may like to see what I did with your pattern!

The base fabric is made of 11 different japanese indigo printed cottons that were pieced together to form squares and then those squares were pieced together to form big enough panels for sleeves, front, sides etc. Then they were sandwiched with batting and blue fabric and free motion quilted in a swirly type pattern. Then the pieces were cut out and assembled with the seams on the outside. Seams were covered with the rust fabric that picks up the small dots of rust in some of the prints.
The back is a dragon panel that I bought a long time ago from a vendor from Japan. I free motion quilted that around the dragon and cut it out for the back. It will have one button to close it at the top when I can find a silver dragon button.  It was fun to create this from fabric that has been sitting around for dozen years plus!  What a novel idea!  Use fabric you have already!!
