Furniture Reborn!

Old bedroom furniture made to coordinate with a quilt!

My project started with an old bedroom set. The set consisted of a chest of drawers, hutch and dresser.

They had seen lots of wear and had many dings, scratches and dents.

I began by coating the "body" with a watered down mixture of latex paint in celadon green.

I taped off the drawer fronts that would be later stenciled.

The watered down paint was applied and then "partially removed" using a wide dry paintbrush (use a rag to keep the excess paint from building up on your dry brush).

The underlying original grain (and color) will shown through. The nicks and dents I left alone. These picked up more of the paint for added texture!

With the original wood drawer fronts, I stenciled the same square pattern repeated in the quilt. I mixed paints to match the colors and used the natural wood as the "brown" found in the quilt. This made the stenciling really fast!
