My
project started with a round table with leaf, that I found at
a garage sale for $3.00
The
top was laminate and the rest stained wood. I sanded and filled
the many dings and chips (the one leg on the right looked as though
someone had tried to saw it part of the way through).

|
Next
I spray painted the whole table in a dark forest green. I used
a "flat" finish so my additional layers of paint would
adhere well.

 |
I
used the images from our "leaves"
stamps to create masks. I then placed them around the base and legs. |
|
After
covering the top, I sprayed a "textured" stone finish
paint on the legs and base.
When
the masks are peeled away, the leaves are left in the dark green
base coat.

With
the "Spring Leaves"
stencil, I stenciled with varying shades of greens over the top
of the table. |

Next,
I masked off the stenciled areas and sponged on a pale green coat
of latex house paint. (It does look white in these photos, but
the actual color is a soft green over the dark base).
Hint:
Make a quickie mask by photocopying about a third as many images
as the total number of you stenciled, they last long enough for
one project.

Since
this is a kitchen nook table, I finished it off with three coats
of clear water based varnish.
