Jesse's New Shades

After seeing pictures of my son Kanaan's bedroom shades, my nephews said they'd like some too! This year's Christmas presents were Roman Shades for their rooms.

Jesse's room is on the corner of the house and he has two windows. For his shades I used two Cat 18" Batik Panels that just happened to face in opposite directions. I added borders with Black Cotton, Kaleidoscope Dots in Fuchsia and Orange/Purple Mottled Batik Cotton. I used Warm Window insulated shade fabric for the backing. Since these are traveling to Virginia where they live, I had to take the pictures with the shades just draped over a door.

Detail of the shades. I stamped Cat Paws and Fishbones using Opaque White Paint so it would show up on the black cotton. I added just a touch of Ultramarine Blue to the Opaque White for the cat paws.

Roman Shades will retain their pleats after just a little "training". The warm window fabric is quilted in rows so it great for this style of shade!
