Use up that yarn stash!
#15530 Pin Woven Clutch

A great project to use up your leftover scraps of fabric, ribbon and yarn! So easy to make, you’ll be whipping up several in no time!

Price: $9.

Complete pattern and instructions!

Supplies:

Fabric for clutch lining (approx. 1/2 yd of 45" )

Fusible Interfacing (1/2 yard) Stiff heavy weight or hair canvas works best.

Scissors

Rotary Cutter & Ruler

Yarn Needle (large eye, blunt tip)

Bodkin (Optional)

Hair Pick (for tamping down the weaving).

15 x 20 piece of Foam Core Board (available at most art supply stores)

Heavy Pins (regular sewing pins are too lightweight, you need short (1”) heavy pins for best results.

Designer materials:

For the WARP:
Approximately 30 yds of warp material. This can be yarn, crochet cotton, ribbon, etc. Keep in mind that it takes a substantial amount to do the warp for weaving, and you will use more of this for the weft too. That's why yarn is a good choice, lots of pretty ones and many skeins come with lots of yardage. Don’t use anything with stretch!

For the WEFT:
Various scraps of fabric, ultrasuede, yarn, trims, etc., to match your lining fabric for the inside of the clutch. If you're doing fabric strips, plan on minimum 15” lengths (by approx. 1” wide strips) of each fabric you pick.

Closure:
Choose a great button, coordinating fabric loop, ties, or a magnetic snap for your clutch closure.

Other useful items for embellishment:

Stamps • Stencils • Buttons • Beads • Yarn • Ribbons • Charms • Threads • Appliqué
