Silver Fabric Paint
All seams are 1/2” - Finished Size Approx. 8” x 59”
STEP 1
Emboss small and large Snowflakes on velvet scarf alternating the different stamps sizes.
STEP 2
Stamp with Silver fabric paint, the mini, small and large Snowflakes on
scarf lining, alternating the different stamps sizes.
STEP 3
Sew velvet to lining, right sides together, with 1/2” seam allowance,
leaving a 4” opening along one edge. HINT: It helps to use lots of pins
to keep the velvet from wiggling away from the lining. Turn to right side.
Ease out corners with a point turner.
STEP 4
Hand stitch opening closed.
STEP 5
Carefully press the edges only to avoid lifting your embossed images.
Use a Velva board or thick terry towel to keep from crushing the nap of
the velvet.

To Emboss

| Start with a few scraps to practice on. Using either a plant mister filled with water or a can of 'spray starch', lightly mist the back of your fabric. (I have just about the same result with water or spray starch). Place your stamp face up on the ironing board. Lay the velvet pile side down over the stamp. Using a press cloth, press the velvet with a dry iron (cotton setting) for 20 to 30 seconds (the longer you can leave it the stronger the impression. You may need to move the iron around a bit if you have steam holes, be careful not to move the fabric. Or use a pressing cloth or tin foil to help diffuse the steam hole pattern. Lift up the velvet and VOILA! A perfectly embossed pattern. Practice on a few more scraps (this is an easy way to decide which design works best). |
